On August 5, 2023, Professor Shigeru Ban hosted a special lecture titled “Balancing Work Production and Social Contribution.” In addition to introducing eco-friendly architectural designs from around the world, he shared his long-term experiences in disaster relief efforts. He also explained the primary philosophy behind these current activities, emphasizing that architects should contribute more to society.
A short-term project was also conducted, titled “Building Small Temporary Housing with Corrugated Cardboard.” The project involved actual construction within the team and took about three days to complete. The goal was to create a temporary shelter by covering a completed framework with materials such as vinyl sheets, thus giving it the functionality of temporary housing. Special attention was given to the seams in the construction.
